Family/Kids Session: Lisa, Jason, and Jenna

September 2, 2010 at 9:37 AM (couples, family, kids, Uncategorized)

Happy 3rd birthday Jenna!

Jenna and my Liana first met when Jenna was three days old (Liana was all of two months old herself).  Jenna had met her parents only hours earlier and was ridiculously sweet, staring into her mommy’s face.  Poor Lisa probably couldn’t hear her baby’s gurgling, as I had screamed so loudly into the phone the day before when Lisa called to tell me they got “the call,” and Jenna was theirs.

Fast forward three years – and as all moms (and fake aunts like me) know it really does feel like life has been on fast forward – and Jenna has grown into a curious and beautiful preschooler.

We were also able to get some neat pictures of all three of them.  What a beautiful family!

Jason and Lisa will celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary soon, but sometimes they still look like they’re in that cute, exciting, everything’s new stage of dating.

These three are hoping to increase the size of their family soon.  They would love it if you keep the adoption of Jenna’s future little brother in our prayers.

Senior session: Natalie, pt.1

September 1, 2010 at 3:48 PM (pets, senior portrait, Uncategorized)

The lovely Natalie just started her senior year of high school.  She’s a great young woman to be around, and my daughters and I are particular fans of her baby-sitting skills.

Before school and fall sports started up for her again, we headed off to Southgate Park in Green for a senior session.

Southgate is actually the only park in Green that permits pets, so lovable old Annie tagged along to provide us with a prop, and comic relief!

My new favorite pet photo that I’ve taken:

Natalie, I had a great time working with you, and I’m looking forward to our formal shots session.

What’s coming up…

August 5, 2010 at 4:47 PM (Uncategorized)

I’ve updated my lighting equipment recently, and I’m looking forward to sharing new images with you.  No new posts today since I’m working on my BRAND NEW COMPUTER, and am still transferring files.  Coming soon: more babies, more families more seniors, a fun family reunion, and engagement sessions – and those are just the sessions I’ve shot but haven’t blogged yet!

Tracey, Michael, Xander and Drew

July 26, 2010 at 11:16 PM (couples, family, kids, Uncategorized)

These parents should be proud.  They look this happy and they’re facing the opposite direction of the playground!  Tracey and Michael have great boys.

They make pretty great models themselves!  Like so many other parents, these two haven’t taken a non-snapshot  “couple” picture since they were married.

Big brother Xander is full of personality, and had a great time on the playground.

My favorite part of this picture is that he was smiling up at his little brother!

Speaking of his little brother, Drew is adorable and I loved capturing his sweet smile.

Drew won’t be the baby of the family for long, though.  Their family is expecting number three in 2011.  Congratulations Tracey and Michael, and thanks for coming out for pictures!

Family Session: Pam, Steve, and boys in a special session

July 23, 2010 at 8:15 AM (baby, couples, family, kids, Uncategorized)

This particular session was a special treat during this adoption fundraiser.  Pam and Steve are in the process of adopting one-year-old Joseph into their family.  What a sweet addition he makes!

I got some great smiles out of this little guy, but I find his “serious” face incredibly endearing, too.

Now we’ll get the whole family in there.

Just the boys.

Handsome and helpful big(gest) brother Justin is 11.

Christian has just celebrated his 9th birthday, and we took this opportunity to get some unique birthday pictures of him.

An important friend joined him for this picture.  Interest in this owl is something Christian shares in with his new little brother.

These were so much fun to take!  I loved his Dad and big brother standing by me, providing tips on what makes for a solid fighting stance, light saber maneuvers, and what makes for a quality game face when wielding a fictional weapon.  I was desperately trying to contain my laughter and not shake the camera too badly.

Thanks for bringing the family out, Pam and Steve.  Congratulations and good luck with the completion of your adoption.

Kids session: Alex and Anthony

July 20, 2010 at 12:03 AM (family, kids, Uncategorized)

Anthony and Alex are lots of fun.   This started out as a picture of Alex, but his brother jumped into the shot.  Now it’s a glimpse into a relationship.  It was a neat start to our Day In The Park session.

As you may have noticed, I’ve been really into this type of shot lately.  Let me know if you’d like something similar at your session.

I “elevated” big brother Anthony for this shot.  A lot of messing around before we got down to business here = genuine smiles.

Alex seems like such a nice kid.  As they’re going into 4th and 5th grade I couldn’t help but think of my classroom days, teaching those grades.  I’m sure I would have wished for a class full of guys like Alex.

From the brief time I spent with them, (it was only a 30 minute mini-session) I’d guess that if I Anthony was anything like he acted during our photo session in my classroom, I’d have to work hard not to laugh at his quips in front of my other students ( but crack up as soon as no one was looking).  Lucky for me, I didn’t have to set a good example this day!

Thanks Dianne for bringing your boys out.  It was great to end a fun (but long) day with a big smile on my face, too!

Family Session: Zach, Jenny, and girls

July 9, 2010 at 11:04 PM (Uncategorized)

Jenny and Zach have two great little girls, ages 4 and almost 3, and like the above picture, they are focused on the girls.  I really enjoyed our “Day In The Park” session.

You can tell this family loves each other because they were this close and still smiling on the hottest day so far this summer!

If you were their age and about to go down a double slide, you’d smile, too!

The trick to this shot was getting big sister Kayleigh this close to Abigail without (a) touching her and (b) Abigail even knowing she was this close.

Speaking of Kayleigh, here’s a brief display of her big sister cuteness.  (Note my aforementioned affinity for big sisters.)

Abigail has this infectious smile, and some serious cuteness herself:

She’ll be 3 soon, but since the birthday hat was more fun to look at than wear, I give you…

Thanks Zach and Jenny!  I really enjoyed meeting your family, and hope I get to catch up with you again!

Family Session: Mark, Brandy, and their 5 wonderful kids

July 8, 2010 at 12:26 AM (baby, couples, family, fun location, kids, Uncategorized)

Mark and Brandy’s family session was the first of my “Day In the Park” series for Brooke Taylor’s family adoption fund.  My husband was my assistant for the evening, and my only regret is that I didn’t get a shot of his legs as he stood on a step stool next to me, holding up a light bouncer over this great family.  With kids ranging from 1 month to 7 years this is one  busy family.

Laid back and just plain fun,  we loved meeting Mark and Brandy!

One month old Luke is an angel just right for my new little bench.  (Which by the way, might look great in your own backyard with you 0-6 year old posing on it.)

The newly minted big brother, John Paul, is a hair raising experience himself (in that adorable, precocious way that two year olds have about them).

Older-middle brother Joey was a great model, and a very good sport considering how many times I called him Ryan!

Speaking of Ryan…he was a ham for the camera and a helper for his family.  I loved watching him hold John Paul’s hand and helping him get all the way up to the top of the big spiral playground slide.

Last but not least, the sweet and lovely Emma.  Check out her smile in the 2nd picture in this post.  She was just glowing, holding her newest brother.

Thanks for coming out and supporting the adoption fund!

Family Session: Dustin, Leslie, and 3 adorable girls

July 7, 2010 at 1:16 AM (baby, couples, family, kids, Uncategorized)

How fun is this family!?!  Hanging out with Dustin, Leslie, and their sweet and silly girls made me smile so much my face hurt.  That’s a photography hazard I usually get to avoid on my side of the camera.  I asked these friends of ours to come out and help me prepare for my Day In The Park sessions by setting up different poses and using various backgrounds, so that I could be ready to roll right through well organized and times mini sessions over the next weeks.

Lydia was ready to bolt.  It’s a good thing it only took my camera 1/160th of a second to take this shot!

Sophia is the  big sister of the bunch, and as the oldest of 3 myself I can relate to the important job she  has (and does so well, by the way).

I started sifting through pictures of each girl, and decided that I would rather make collages than narrow down favorite images.  These ladies kept moving,  and I was right in front, behind, or above them.  Collages sometimes capture a the day in a broader way than a single image would.

Lucy is my buddy.  She has these bashful moments, and then you see this beaming smile.  If I had to describe her in one word, I’d go with huggable.

Lydia doesn’t let being little stop her from keeping up with her big sisters.  She may look like a smaller version of her sisters, but this just-barely two year old has her own endearing personality.

Thanks for bringing your family out to the park.   I appreciate the help, and I’m glad you like the pictures!

Newborn Session: Luke

June 29, 2010 at 1:12 AM (baby, couples, family, newborn, Uncategorized)

Nine days old, and already a heartbreaker!   It’s neat to see his mother, Julie, fall so naturally into the roll of Mommy.

It feels like just 2 weeks ago we took some maternity pictures of his parents in this chair.  Oh wait, it was just a couple weeks ago! He must have heard us saying that we couldn’t wait to see his face in his nursery, and here he is!

Just hanging out.

So serious!

I love the way he’s studying his Dad here.  I’m excited to watch their relationship develop as Luke grows.

Check out the little man with his amazing (and amazing looking) mom.

What an angel!  Thanks for having me out on that super hot day.  He’s changed already since we took these, and I’m so glad that Nick and Julie are friends of ours and live, because I think I’m going to need a baby Luke fix pretty regularly!
